Course 7: Color Theory Grade 1, Color Fundamentals

The practises in this course, encourage you to discover relationships between colors and their values. Through making value maps, using graphite, you can assign light and dark values to the sets of color based on natural objects and atmospheric perspective. By analysing the colors, you can describe them, and as a result, you would be able to convey what you see in nature into your art through proper color mixing methods.

Course 7: Color Theory Grade 1, Color Fundamentals

About the Course

In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of color theory for painting. You will practice on color mixing principles using gouache techniques. All practices will help you to understand the relationship between complimentary colors and color values to settle them in a composition.

By practising on making colourful grey  tones, you will learn color values, and will represent those values into an artwork depicting what you see in nature. Observing colors in nature and recreating them with any medium is an incredibly complex area which needs dedicated practice.

In course 7, we will review commonly misunderstood terms; value, tone, hue, saturation, shade, and tint. You will learn all these terms practically through 8 lessons using gouache techniques.
