In this course, you will practice on making textures and creating compositions. Understanding the term “texture” as one of the main elements in visual arts will lead to stronger drawings and paintings. Two-dimensional works of art like paintings and drawings embed implied texture through the use of lines, colors, and marks. In this course you will make and use texture to create composition by collage making techniques. Collage is one the best ways to increase your awareness to texture, color, composition, and finally; the space.
During the first half of the course, you will create textures to make source materials used for collage making and you will complete two compositions by this technique. Drawing pencils, charcoal, inks, and markers are the mediums you will be using for the practices in this course. You will learn to mark different types of paper with pencil, charcoal, ink, and marker to create textures and patterns rather than drawing shapes or forms. In the second half of the course, you will use some ready-made sources for collage making. you’ll want to first gather magazines, booklets, construction papers, posters, and cardboard as your source material. Ensure you have glue sticks for placing the textures on cardboard to create two more compositions using this technique. At the end of this course, you will create the final project which is a mixture of all mediums and techniques you have learnt in courses 1,2, and 3.
